Pine Cone Bird Feeder

Here’s something you can do with those big pine cones you find on the ground every year.

What You Need:
Big Pine Cone
Yarn
Peanut Butter or lard
Margarine
Bird Seed

Work over newspaper to make clean up easier.

Tie a three foot piece of yarn around the top of your pine cone.

Mix two tablespoons of peanut butter, or lard together with two tablespoons of margarine.

Spread peanut butter [or lard] and margarine mixture onto pine cone until it is covered really well.

Pour bird seed onto a plate, or shallow dish, and roll pine cone in it.

Put the birdseed-covered pine cones in your freezer for about 1 hour.

Hang outside on a tree branch in such a way the birds can sit on another branch nearby while they eat.
